BREAKING: Federal Government Okays full reopening of schools ( see details)

The Federal Government says state governments and school administrators should start making preparations for the full reopening of schools in the country.

However, the Federal Government announced the resumption of graduating pupils effective August 4, 2020, to write this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination from August 17, 2020, through September 12, 2020.

But speaking on Thursday, the National Coordinator of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, Dr Sani Aliyu, during a briefing at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, said the task force recommends phased return of students.

Aliyu said, “For educational institutions which include daycare, primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. Educational institutions should begin the process of working towards potentially reopening within this phase.

“However, we strongly recommend that states conduct risk assessment to ensure all schools are at a level of compliance and create a monitoring mechanism to assess, create, and monitor this level of preparedness.

“Meanwhile, all daycares and educational institutions are to remain closed to in-classes until this level of risk is assessed. And if there will be opening of schools, it must be staged and preferably carried out in phases to ensure that this does not pose a risk to the general public and in particular to vulnerable groups that might end up getting infected by students going back home.”

BDCs Want Forex Profit Margin Reviewed

Bureau De Change (BDC) operators, on Wednesday, said the profit margin on the new fixed rate on the exchange market being implemented by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was too small.

President of the association, Aminu Gwadabe, at a webinar for the operators, called on the CBN to review the profit margin.

Daily Trust reports that with effect from Monday, September 7, 2020, the CBN would begin to sell dollars to the BDCs at a fixed rate of N384 to the dollar while they are expected to sell to their customers at N386.

Gwadabe noted that the BDC operators would find it difficult to break even.

“The challenge that we are facing is the smaller margin.

“Right now, the parallel market is doing about N430 and our pegged rate is N386 to the dollar.

“So, we still see a gap between the advised exchange rate of N386 by the CBN and what is obtainable presently in the market.

“We are asking the CBN to please look at this and review it for us.”

Gwadabe also urged the CBN to allow for the use of virtual documentation which he said would help in curbing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, saying COVID-19 is still very much around.

“That is what we are also requesting as part of measure to curb the spread of Covid-19.”

He warned members to always operate in accordance with the rules and guidelines of the business.

“Do not sell foreign exchange to unauthorized persons. Our members, in the past, have been sanctioned for selling to unauthorized buyers.”

Northern NBA Branches Disown New NBA

Chairmen of the various branches of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in the north have dissociated themselves from the newly formed NBA created by a splinter group of lawyers from the region.

In a communique after the meeting between lawyers from the zone and the new NBA President, Olumide Akpata, Wednesday, the lawyers pledged their support for the new president of the association and national officers.

In the communique, which was read by the chairman of the Arewa Lawyers Forum, Elisha Kurah, the region expressed confidence that the NBA under the leadership of Olumide Akpata would surmount these challenges and birth an all-inclusive Bar that would work for all Lawyers in Nigeria regardless of any part of the divide one might belong to.

Yahoo boy runs mad after refusing to use his mom as ritual

It so pathetic how a man ran mad after he refused to use his mom as the next ritual. Well, I don't know whether to pity him or we say that serves him right.

When they say you shouldn't go into it, we won't hear. Any one who does what they've never done before, he'll definitely see what has not been seen before. Well, there's nothing new under the heavens. And just in how a man ran mad after he refused to use his mom as ritual.

According to the short minute video cited, the man just ran mad. The woman in the video said he's a yahoo and he has refused to use his mom as ritual. The consequence was madness for him. In the video, the man said they should leave him alone and that he wouldn't use his mom for rituals.

This is a lesson for us and the potential yahoo boys out there. There would always be and end to everything, and the end of being a yahoo boy is really very bad. Why go into it then.

May God help us.
