I’ll challenge Malami’s illegal amendment of NBA rules -Femi Falana
A human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), has said he will challenge the illegal amendment of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners 2007 by the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN).
Falana said this in a statement on Sunday titled, ‘Clarifications of My Stand on the Purported Amendment of RPC by AGF’.
Malami had amended the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners 2007 by deleting sections 9(2), 10, 11, 12, and 13 thereby removing the requirement for NBA stamp and seal on court processes and giving everyone – including non-lawyers – the right to submit court processes.
The move is also expected to affect the NBA’s revenue as the sale of stamps is one of its major sources of income.
Falana had in an earlier statement said the NBA failed to live up to its responsibilities when it left the General Council of the Bar in the hands of the AGF in the last 15 years.
He had said since the NBA never complained when the then AGF, Bayo Ojo (SAN), unilaterally introduced the use of stamps in 2007, then the association should not complain now that Malami has been unilaterally removed.
In a fresh statement on Sunday, however, Falana said he had sought further clarification and discovered that Ojo actually did not take the decision unilaterally but only after consulting with the general council.
He said, “My position on the 2007 RPC was anchored on the preamble wherein it is stated: ‘In the exercise of power conferred on me by section 12(4) of the Legal Practitioners Act 1990, as amended, and all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I, Bayo Ojo, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice/Chairman General Council of the Bar hereby Make the following Rules.’
“However, I have read the clarifications credited to Prof. Ernest Ojukwu (SAN) and Lawal Rabal (SAN) to the effect that the 2007 RPC was properly made by the GCB. I have also spoken to both of them on phone for confirmation of their positions. I verily believe them in toto.
“Therefore, notwithstanding my opposition to the Stamp and Seal on ideological grounds I wish to reiterate my position that the 2020 RPC was illegally made by the AGF, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN). To that extent, I will take appropriate steps to fight this latest act of unpardonable impunity emanating from the office of the AGF.”

Lawyers Begin Petition To Strip Malami Of SAN Rank, Says the use of the stamps is no longer necessary.
Some lawyers under the Nigeria Bar Association, have started a petition to strip the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami of his Senior Advocate of Nigeria title.
The petition, registered by a lawyer, Izu Aniagu on change.org, had received 378 signatures.
The petitioner claimed among others that the AGF unilaterally deleted the provisions of the Rules of Professional Conduct (RPC) which provide for stamp and seal as well as bar practice fee for government lawyers.
Izu further stated that Malami does not have such power.
Malami was conferred with the SAN rank, in 2008, 16 years after being called to the Bar.
He courted controversy last week when he purportedly amended the RPC for Legal Practitioners 2007, removing the requirement for the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) stamp and seal on court processes.
Further report revealed that Malami also seemingly abolished the requirement of payment of annual practice fees by government lawyers.
Membership of the NBA has been compulsory for all lawyers and the stamps and seals were sold at N4, 000 for 72 pieces and were given upon payment of NBA dues.
Without the stamp, a lawyer could not submit any document or letter to the court and the sale of the stamp and seal was one of the major sources of NBA’s revenue.
However, with the amendment of the process by Malami, the use of the stamps is no longer necessary.
The explanatory note to the Instrument suggested that it was done to bring the RPC into conformity with the provisions of the Legal Practitioners Act, the Law Officers Act and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
This is the second time the AGF will be facing attempts to strip him of his title.
In July 2019, Malami was reported to have agreed to appear before the disciplinary panel of the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee to face two petitioners seeking to strip him of the title for alleged misconduct.
A petition was filed against him by some family members of the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, while another one was filed against him by a firm ‘Interstellar’.

FG bans alcohol in sachets and small polythene due to it's negative effects on public health
Two days after the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) cautioned the public on the consumption of alcohol in sachet, the Federal Government has banned alcohol in polyethylene terephthalate and glass bottles.
This is contained in a statement by Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, the Director-General of the agency on Saturday, September 12, 2020.
In a statement on Friday, September 11, 2020, the NAFDAC boss had advised Nigerians to avoid unregistered alcoholic products.
According to NAFDAC, the Federal Ministry of Health is concerned about the high incidence of substance and alcohol abuse and its negative effects on public health.
The statement reads, “NAFDAC under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Health, once again, wishes to bring to the attention of the general public, concerns relating to the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages in sachets, small volume glass and PET bottles.
“These concerns relate to negative effects of irresponsible alcohol consumption on public health and on the safety and security of the public, alcohol being a toxic and psychoactive substance with dependence producing properties.
“Uncontrolled access and availability of high concentration alcohol in sachet and small volume PET or glass bottles has been put forward as a factor contributing to substance and alcohol abuse in Nigeria with its negative impact on the society.
“The World Health Organisation reports that alcohol consumption contributes to three million deaths each year globally as well as to the disabilities and poor health of millions of people.
“NAFDAC with full support of the Federal Ministry of Health has continued to exercise its regulatory responsibilities by ensuring that all alcoholic beverages and other regulated products approved by the agency meet set standards of quality, safety and wholesomeness.
“The Federal Ministry of Health is concerned about the high incidence of substance and alcohol abuse in the country and NAFDAC, being the competent authority and working with relevant stakeholders, is increasing efforts to stem this.
“With regard to alcohol, major stakeholders have been engaged at the highest level and are already sensitised to the issue. To this end, several interventions jointly agreed upon by major stakeholders are being undertaken and as a first step, no new products in sachet and small volume PET or glass bottles above 30 per cent ABV will be registered by NAFDAC.
“Furthermore, to reduce availability and curb abuse, effective January 31 2020, producers of alcohol in sachets and small volume PET and glass bottles are to reduce production by 50 per cent of capacity prior to January 2020. The overall goal is a complete phase out of high concentration alcohol in sachets and small PET and glass bottles in line with the agreed roadmap or earlier.”
It would be recalled that NAFDAC recently expressed its commitment to prevent young people and other vulnerable and high risk group from easy access to alcohol in the country.
Adeboye’s son threatened to post old videos showing the broadcaster attacking his parents, tells Daddy Freeze to Apologise to his parents too.
Leke Adeboye, a son of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called on broadcaster, Ifedayo Olarinde, better known as Daddy Freeze to apologise to his parents.
Leke made the comment on Instagram in response to Daddy Freeze’s apology to the founder of Living Faith Church aka Winners Chapel, David Oyedepo.
Daddy Freeze offered the apology after a video showing him insulting Oyedepo two years ago went viral recently.
The broadcaster, who is known for propagating controversial Christian messages, had also discredited some of Adeboye’s sermons in the past including a recent one on marriage.
However, Adeboye’s son said he expected Daddy Freeze to also apologise to his parents and threatened to also post old videos showing the broadcaster attacking his parents.
He wrote, “I am still waiting for my apologies o (sic). I am still waiting for Pastor Adeboye and Pastor Folu Adeboye or you want me to go and find the videos?”
Daddy Freeze, who is the Convener of the Free the Sheeple Movement and Leader of the Free Nation in Christ, had recently come under attack from several clerics including Senior Pastor, Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche; the founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, and several others for verbally attacking Oyedepo.
The broadcaster has been known to propagate controversial Christian doctrines which include the non-payment of tithes.
He has been feuding with several popular and influential clerics and described those who demand tithe as thieves.
Lai Mohammed explains how Buhari prevented Nigeria from becoming a failed state after a long stretch of rapacious and rudderless leadership.
The Federal Government on Sunday said President Muhammadu Buhari’s assumption of office in 2015 prevented Nigeria from becoming a failed state after a long stretch of rapacious and rudderless leadership.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in a statement issued in Abuja, said Buhari came into office when the country was under occupation by terrorists and the treasury was wantonly being looted.
“President Buhari came into office at a time that a swathe of the country’s territory was under occupation, a period when many Nigerian towns and cities, including the capital acity of Abuja, were a playground for insurgents.
“It was a moment that the nation’s wealth had been looted dry, with little or nothing to show for the nation’s huge earnings, especially in the area of infrastructure,” he said.
The minister said it was therefore a cruel irony that those who frittered away a great opportunity to put Nigeria on a sound socio-economic footing at a time of financial buoyancy were those accusing government of not performing.
He added that it was unfortunate that those who planted the seed of the insecurity in some parts of the country were the same ones pointing an accusing finger at a reformist government.
The minister, who said that the country was going through a lot of challenges, however, pointed out that the situation would have been worse but for the deft management of resources and unprecedented fight against corruption by the Buhari government.
He added that the determined battle against insurgency and banditry as well as the abiding courage of the president in piloting the ship of state had saved the nation from a worse situation.
Mohammed said contrary to the position of a certain political leader, Nigeria is not a failed state.
He described the nation as one courageously tackling its challenges and building a solid infrastructure that would serve as the basis for socio-economic development.
According to the minister, Nigeria is unrelenting in battling insecurity and working hard to ensure the greatest prosperity for the greatest number of people.
The minister also said no government in the history of the country had done so much with so little as the Buhari administration had been doing.
“With 60 per cent less national income, the administration is making progress on all fronts and setting the country on the path of
sustainable growth and development,” he said
The minister said while naysayers were hyping the instances of insecurity in the country, they had forgotten that the country could have been overrun by insurgents and bandits if the president had not rallied regional and international allies to tackle headlong the Boko Haram insurgency.
He recalled that “bombs were going off like firecrackers” before the president’s assumption of office while an estimated 20,000 square miles of the nation’s territory were occupied by insurgents.
The minister added: ‘They tout the downturn in economic fortunes without putting things in context.
“With the COVID-19 pandemic forcing a global shutdown and a drastic fall in global oil demand, Nigeria lost 60 per cent of its earnings.
“Even with this downturn, the administration has ensured that not a single worker has been retrenched, has paid salaries as and when due and has continued to build infrastructure like roads, rails, bridges and power, among others, that will serve many generations.”
He accused them of aggravating ” the national fault lines with their angry and unguarded actions and rhetoric.”
According to the minister, the critics had forgotten that ” while national
fissures are amplified at a time of dwindling economic fortune, what is needed to foster peace and unity is not reckless elocution but responsible and responsive leadership, the kind being offered by President. ”
The minister reiterated that Nigeria is on the road to greatness inspite of the challenges confronting it.
He cited the hard push toward food sufficiency, the modernisation of the rail system, the nationwide construction of roads and bridges, the reform in the oil and gas sector and the unprecedented anti-corruption battle as achievements of the administration.
Mohammed also cited the diversification of the economy and the renewed effort to ensure a steady power supply anchored on a three-phase project that was expected to deliver 25,000MW of electricity in the next few years.
The minister thanked Nigerians for their perseverance and understanding, especially against the backdrop of the stifling effects
of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy.
He appealed to them to continue to support the administration as it seeks to lift 100 million people out of poverty in the next 10 years.
”In one of the most difficult moments in the nation’s history, Nigeria is fortunate to have at the helm a leader who is not only dedicated, selfless and patriotic, but one who is globally acknowledged for his discipline, integrity and vision.
“Those who genuinely love Nigeria will support, rather than subvert, this committed leadership,” he said.

Presidency replies Obasanjo, says he is Nigeria’s Divider-in-Chief, who pretends to be a Messiah.
Following the comment by ex-president, Olusegun Obasanjo, that Nigeria is becoming a failed state under President Muhammadu Buhari, the Presidency says the ex-president has become a lowly statesman.
Obasanjo, while delivering a speech titled, ‘Moving Nigeria Away from Tipping Over’ at a consultative dialogue on Thursday, September 10, 2020, said he had never seen Nigeria so divided.
But the presidency in a statement signed by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, described Obasanjo as a Divider-in-Chief, who pretends to be a Messiah.
Describing Obasanjo’s comment as an unfair attack on the President, the presidency highlighted Buhari’s efforts on nation building, constitutional amendments and infrastructural development.
In the statement, the Presidency asked Obasanjo to support the Federal Government in solving the problems of the nation rather than “helping the mushrooming of a poisonous atmosphere of ethnic and religious nationalism.”
Read the statement below.
In his most recent statement former President Olusegun Obasanjo attempts to divide the nation while President Muhammadu Buhari continues to promote nation building and the unity of Nigeria.
The difference is clear. From the lofty heights of Commander-in-Chief, General Obasanjo has descended to the lowly level of Divider-in-Chief (to adapt the coinage of Time).
Before responding further to the unfair attacks on President Buhari and his administration by the former President, it is important that we categorically state that contrary to the assertions by a few analysts, the recent speech in which President Buhari advised West African Presidents against tenure elongation beyond constitutional limits has been consistent with his long held views on the need to adhere to the rule of law.
Even though he tried it and failed, the recent uptick in the number of such leaders proposing to do, or actually carrying on in office beyond term limits is sufficient to cause concern among democrats in the sub-region given its prospects of destabilizing the states and the region.
President Buhari’s advocacy is consistent with his principles and in line with the current policies of his administration and indeed that of the ECOWAS Charter which is that term limits must be respected and that the change of government is only permissible through the ballot box.
Having cleared this misperception, we hope that Chief Obasanjo would once again sheath the sword and rest the pretentiousness about the Messiah that has (mis)led him to pronounce often wrongly, as he disastrously did in the 2019 elections, about the life and death of Nigerian governments.
As some commentators are already suggesting, Chief Obasanjo should, in accordance with his mantra as a statesman, get involved with problems solving, when and where they exist instead of helping the mushrooming of a poisonous atmosphere of ethnic and religious nationalism.
Surely, he must have disappointed many of his local and foreign admirers by showering commendations on a few extremist groups who have vowed to shun the invitation to the National Assembly to participate in the process of constitutional amendment.
No doubt, he must have left those admirers confused in announcing the support for the boycott of a democratic process of changing the constitution, at the same time calling for dialogue and engagement.
The fact that the process he ushered in under his administration with the dubious intention of amendments that sought tenure elongation failed-as did two other attempts by the successor administrations of the same political party- does not in any way justify his dismissal of the exercise by the 9th Assembly as a another waste of time and resources.
To the credit of the All Progressives Congress-led 8th Assembly, the process of constitutional amendment was kickstarted and carried through, paving the way for, among other benefits, the financial independence of local government councils, States Houses of Assembly and the country’s Judiciary. These changes have already been signed into laws by the President as mandated by the constitution.
The recent decisions by the administration as they relate to subsidy withdrawal, helping to plug some of the most horrendous notorious holes and release of scarce resources for the more pressing needs of the people has also not escaped the ire of the former president.
It’s a known fact that the withdrawal of subsidies had been on the wish list of the Obasanjo-led Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. They failed in achieving these measures because, one there was a shared greed. They plundered the treasury as much as anyone could in the name of either subsidy or waiver with reckless impunity.
Two, is to say it takes courage and rare statesmanship on the part of a leader to do as President Buhari to shun populism and seek the best interest of the people and the state, providing the kind of reform and development that Nigeria urgently needs.
This President has run an administration focused on infrastructure and development. He has repaired our damaged relations with neighbours and our traditional allies such as the UK, US, China, Russia, France, Germany, Saudi Arabia and the others with lots of benefits to the country.
It is a pro-business administration that has used diplomacy to unlock bilateral trade and investment.
He leads a government that has liberalized the investment climate and market access by achieving reforms that have placed the country in the list of the world’s top reforming economies.
Nigeria, which other nations had mocked and ridiculed for so many things that were wrong is today progressing at a pace reflecting its size and potential.
With so much to show and many more coming, it is little surprise that President Buhari would be the object of envy and harsh unfair challenges by politicians who failed to deliver, but continue to nurse ambitions of delighting the audience long after their curtain has been drawn.
Two artistes die inside Lagos studio, others hospitalised having reportedly performed all night in the studio
It was a black Thursday for the people at Awolusi Bus stop in the Alagbado area of Lagos State after they found two artistes dead inside a studio in the area.
The emerging music stars simply identified as Ajibawo Lawal and Sunday Akhigbe, were discovered dead around 7am, having reportedly performed all night in the studio.
According to information gathered the residents also brought out a generator and some hard drugs from the studio, fuelling speculations that they might have died from fumes or effects of hard drugs.
Policemen from the Alagbado division recovered the two corpses.
A resident, Mahfuz Majeed, said apart from the two deceased, two other artists including the studio manager were found lying unconscious and rushed to the hospital.
He said, “Nobody came out from the studio while a generator was left working. So, neighbours became suspicious and broke into the building through the window. Apart from the dead artistes, they met two others in a terrible condition. We had to rush them to a private hospital. The police have taken over the case and we don’t know the state of the men in the hospital.”

EKSU Matriculates 8,123 Students, Commissions Lecture Theatre In Ado Ekiti
No fewer than eight thousand, one hundred and twenty-three (8,123) students have been matriculated by the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, for the 2019/2020 Academic Year.
The development was contained in a weekly publication of the office of the registrar of Nigeria’s Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Is-haq Olarewaju Oloyede, released on Sunday night, September 13, 2020.
The event, held virtually on 9th September 2020, was declared open by EKSU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Edward Olanipekun, witnessed the Registrar of the institution, Barr. Akin Arogundade. Also invited to the virtual ceremony were the Deans of respective faculties to present their students for matriculation.
After the ceremony, Prof. Olanipekun invited the Ekiti State JAMB Coordinator, Mr. Abdulhakeem Abdulhameed, and other dignitaries to the commissioning of a three-thousand (3,000) capacity lecture theatre built for the institution by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund(TETFUND).
Recall that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) about two weeks ago announced that the ban on printing of admission letters and processing of Inter-university transfers has been lifted.
The spokesperson of JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin made the disclosure in a statement released on Sunday, September 6 in Abuja.
Schools Will Reopen In Ekiti State On September 21 – Fayemi
The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi has directed the reopening of primary and secondary schools in the state as from September 21, 2020.
Fayemi who gave the order in a state-wide broadcast on Sunday evening noted that full COVID-19 procedures and guidelines will be strictly adhered to as students and teachers return to schools.
The Governor also approved the reopening of Universities and other tertiary institutions in the state as from October 2, 2020, however subject to each institution’s governing council decision.
Giving a further breakdown of the resumption schedules, Fayemi said students in SSS II, JSS III and Primary 6 are to resume on September 21, while students in SSS I, JSS II and Primary 5 and 4 are to resume from September 28.
Students in JSS I and Primary 1-3 are to resume on October 19, while pupils in kindergarten and nursery schools are expected to resume on November 2, when more assurances of safety for their age bracket would have been established.
The governor noted that the decision to reopen schools follows the progress recorded in curbing the further spread of COVID-19 infections in the state.
“While we have progressively responded to the initial lockdown with gradual relaxation in line with the progress made, we must remain vigilant as we cannot afford to indulge ourselves such that a spike may recur as a result of flagrant disobedience to the established protocol,” he said.
“We cannot afford to go back into another round of lockdown with its attendant repercussions. This point needs to be emphasized; though, there is a national decline in number of cases, there has been a noticeable upsurge in Ekiti.
“One proof of this is the unpleasant but consistent figures that we have recorded in the last month. As at the time I addressed you on August 5, 2020, there were only 152 confirmed cases in Ekiti.
“Today we have recorded a total of 299 cases which means we recorded 147 new cases within a month. You would recall that the total recorded cases from March to August were 152. This suggests that from August to date, we have had near 100 percent new cases, even while national number has maintained a stable decline,” he noted.
Abiola’s Widow, Adebisi Finally Reacts To Arrest Of Abiola Sons Over Robbery Incidence
Adebisi Abiola, one of the widows of the late M.K.O. Abiola, has finally spoken on the arrest of her stepsons.
Kassim and Aliu, sons of Abiola, were arrested after they suspected to be connected to the robbery at the late politician’s residence in Opebi, Ikeja, Lagos.
Recall that some gunmen invaded the residence of the late businessman in Ikeja, Lagos, on September 2.
However, on Friday, Abiola’s sons filed a N100 million suit against the police, and blamed their stepmother for their ordeal.
In a statement she released through the family lawyer Debo Adeleke, Abiola’s widow said her stepsons were arrested due to their unruly conduct.
According to her, after the robbery incident, the police started to investigate but instead of cooperating with the police, Kassim and Aliu threatened to deal with them.
The statement reads: “On the 2nd September 2020, at about 6:00 am, some hoodlums suspected to be armed robbers broke into the residence of Late Chief MKO Abiola. The criminals broke into the bedroom of Late MKO Abiola’s wife, in person of Chief Mrs. Adebisi Abiola and carted away valuables running into millions of naira,”
“The victim, Chief Mrs. Adebisi Abiola and her daughter were subsequently locked up in her room with a threat by the armed robbers that they would be eliminated if they raised an alarm. As expected, Chief Mrs. Adebisi Abiola was so petrified, bemused and stupefied by the unfortunate armed robbery incident that she could not raise an alarm even after the robbers had escaped with their loots running into millions of naira.
“It is on record that while the policemen were interviewing the family members, Mr. Kassim Abiola conducted himself in a very rude, ungentlemanly, provocative, embarrassing and suspicious manner and all efforts by other members of the family to make him act in a responsible manner failed.
“It is further on record that Mr. Kassim Abiola did not only throw tantrums at the police but equally threatened to deal ruthlessly with one of the senior police officers whom he (Kassim) claimed to know personally to the extent of describing the said senior police officer’s car and the location where he will deal with him.
“These unguarded vituperation and violent conducts by Kassim infuriated the police and he was subsequently invited for further interrogation for demanding the reason for the presence of the police men in his father’s house.
“It is equally noteworthy to mention here that his junior brother, Aliu Abiola joined him in his tirade of abuse against the policemen who were only trying to interview them and all other persons at the residence with a view to investigating the crime.
“The police subsequently arrested Mr. Kassim Abiola, Mr. Aliu Abiola and seven others for further questioning regarding the investigation of the robbery incident which the police suspected to have been carried out through the active connivance of a member of the family or staff considering the ease with which such an ugly armed robbery incident was carried out.”
According to the statement, efforts were being made to secure the release of those detained in connection with the incident when they learnt that a suit had been filed against the police.
She also described the fundamental rights enforcement suit as wrong and ill advised but said efforts would still be made to secure their release.
“Barrister Debo Adeleke discussed with the Lagos State Commissioner of Police who understandably consented to release them and efforts to release and admit the three men into an administrative bail were concluded on Friday 11th September,2020,” the statement read.
“However, to the family’s chagrin and consternation, while one of the lawyers in Barr. Debo Adeleke’s chambers in company of Engr. Rahmon Abiola, a younger brother to late Chief MKO Abiola who is also the secretary of the Abiola family were making final efforts to perfect the bail of the trio i.e. Kassim and Aliu Abiola and Mr. Popoola, a lawyer from the law firm of Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, in company of a woman stormed the Lagos state Police Command and informed the police of the Suit filed in court for the enforcement of the fundamental rights of Messrs. Kassim and Aliu Abiola.
“Consequent upon the above, the police could not go ahead with the planned release of the three men as scheduled for Friday, 11th September, 2024.
Edo 2020: I Don't Waste Money Like You - Ize Iyamu Slams Obaseki, People React To Ize Iyanu's Response As Arrogance Without Content During Live Debate
The much expected Edo governorship debates is currently going on and as expected, the salvos and punchlines are continuously flying back and forth as the two front line candidates, Pastor Ize Iyamu of the APC and the incumbent and candidate of the PDP, Godwin Obaseki go head to head in determining who is best fit for the position of governing the state.
The debates, as organized by channels televisions took a dramatic turn when the incumbent governor of Edo state and the PDP candidate, Godwin Obaseki took a swipe at the APC candidate, Pastor Ize Iyamu, asking him where he hoped to get the over N500Billion he allegedly earmarked for the development of infrastructure in the state in his first term.
The APC candidate, Pastor Ize Iyamu had earlier mentioned quite a large number of things and projects he wished to present in his first term as governor, and the bewildered Obaseki had wondered how and where he, Ize Iyamu was hoping to get the money from.
Ize Iyamu, while responding rather cast aspersions on Obaseki saying he was not as wasteful as he was.
He also said as far as financial management was concerned, that he was a very prudential manager of resources and he would definitely not spend recklessly.
Speaking further, Ize Iyamu added that he hoped the COVID-19 pandemic would soften a bit so that the state's resources would be restored.
Immediately after his speech, there was a rather note of rejection of his answer as the crowd did not fully take that as an answer.
Obviously, the APC candidate dodged the question as he still did not reveal and state in clear terms, where he hoped to get the money he was hoping to use in developing the state as he had earlier bragged.
Reactions from the Channels TV twitter page also has most Nigerians slamming the APC candidate for dodging the question put to him by Obaseki.
