Lukas Podolski backs Arsenal to complete new signings with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang money.

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continues to be linked with a move away from north London.
Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been backed to complete a "dream" move to Real Madrid by former Gunners star Lukas Podolski. Germany legend Podolski understands why Aubameyang would want to move to a club like Real but thinks Arsenal can use the money they bring in for the 30-year-old to help replenish their squad.
Aubameyang is Arsenal's leading goalscorer this season with 20 goals - double the amount of the second-leading scorer in Gabriel Martinelli.

The Gabon international, who was made captain midway through the season, is heavily linked with a move away from the Club.

Aubameyang's contract at Arsenal expires in the summer of 2021 and he would be free to talk to foreign clubs next January over a potential free transfer like Ramsey did which Arsenal will not allow such thing to repeat itself.

He says they must look at the positives of having more money available to sign new talent.

"When you have a fantastic season like he had, many clubs are interested," Podolski told Sky Sports.

"When a player has a wish to play for a big team or a dream to play in Italy or Spain, or like Aubameyang and his link with Real Madrid...

"If he has a dream to play for this club when he's young, then why not?

"As a player, you have to take this chance to play for a club like that.

"Of course for Arsenal, it'll be a big loss if they have to sell him but this is the business of football.

"My opinion is you lose a big player, he had a fantastic season with a good scoring record, but you can make money on a player, sell him and you can invest in new players.

"For a player like me or Aubameyang, when a big club is calling, you always want to have this dream."

"There is no discussion for me, he is a great player," Podolski said.

"Sometimes there is a problem with a coach or there could be an injury, things that happen in football and you have to deal with this situation sometimes.

"I think it's a better fit than before (Ozil and Arteta). They have played together and know each other.

"Ozil is back on the pitch and the games I have seen he is doing much better than with the former coach.

"Sometimes you have a coach and you can not deal with him. He can have a different view of football.

"Arteta is back at Arsenal and you see the team is much more organised, more fight and discipline.

"I hope they can build a good team for the next couple of years. They can do it but they have to work together."

Arsenal latest news for today - May 21.

Arsenal are strongly committed to signing Benfica attacking midfielder Rafa Silva according to reports in the Portuguese news. Benfica are already aware of the interest from the English club. The player welcomes a possible move to The Emirates. [Correio da Manha]

🗣 Bellerin: "Social media can be great in getting that contact with fans but it can be very hard. You have to learn to deal with it. When it [abuse] happens you want to write back but you realise for every one bad message you can have 100 good messages that you dont notice so much"

🗣 Podolski on Ozil: "There is no discussion for me, he is a great player. Sometimes there is a problem with a coach or there could be an injury. I think it's a better fit than before (Ozil & Arteta). They have played together & know each other"

The Premier League fixture schedule is yet to be decided but the aim is for Arsenal to return to playing matches in mid-June

Bukayo Saka, Pablo Mari and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang walk out for the 2nd half against West Ham

Arsenal could find themselves at an early disadvantage when the Premier League season resumes as the league makes plans for rearranged fixtures in the schedule.

The Gunners are one of four teams to have played one match fewer than the rest of the division following Manchester City's victory in the Carabao Cup final.

Arsenal's rearranged fixture against City was the first to be postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak and the timeframe for slotting that match into the schedule is tight.

Premier League clubs are returning to training this week after agreeing to the protocols put in place but full team training with contact sessions is not yet in place.

The restart still has a number of hurdles to overcome over the course of the coming weeks ahead of the proposed restart date of mid-June, which could then see matches played until the end of August and the start of the 2020/21 season delayed.

Full plans for the schedule are yet to be approved and confirmed but Arsenal may find themselves at an early disadvantage as Premier League chief executive Richard Masters has suggested that postponed matches should be played from the earliest date, meaning Arsenal's fixture against City could be played sooner rather than later.

"It is a relatively normal occurrence for, at this stage of the season, there to be displaced matches that have to be played," he Said. "But I think it is a good idea to prioritise games that have to be played first relatively early in the schedule."

The Premier League has renewed confidence around their resumption plans following the successful return of Germany's Bundesliga at the weekend, which was the first of Europe's top leagues to return.

Arsenal Confirm They Will Deal With Lacazette Internally After Concerning Video Emerges On Social Media.

It must be a maddening time for clubs, as they try to deal with so many issues off the pitch as well as trying to keep on top of their players too.

That means keeping them in shape for a possible return, but it also extends to setting a positive example to the fans too.

We live in a time where certain parts of the UK are being offered no leadership in the crisis by the politicians, so having players act as role-models by setting a perfect example is an easy PR win for the club.

Unfortunately a number of negative stories have come out in recent weeks, and Sky Sports have reported on the latest one which involves Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette.

They confirm he’s been caught on camera inhaling something from a balloon, while also pointing out he was spoken to by the club in 2018 after a similar incident where he was caught inhaling nitrous oxide.

It’s not a good look for Arsenal, and the report confirms that the club will be dealing with Lacazette internally. It’s not clear what the punishment will be at this point, while they also state the player is yet to make a statement, so it’s worth keeping an eye on this.

Gunners have agreed a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for the transfer of Layvin Kurzawa.

Deal Done! Arsenal finalizing the deal for PSG star

Gunners have agreed a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for the transfer of the French left back Layvin Kurzawa.

Arsenal have been in contact with the left back in recent days as Mikel Arteta's side club look to strike a cheap deal for the defender.

And according to France Football, The 27 year old French international will arrive at the Emirates in the summer after agreeing a five-year contract with the London club.

His current contract with PSG expires in the summer meaning he will arrive on a free transfer at the Emirates stadium.

The speedster left-back will provide cover for summer signing Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac who have both suffered with injury problems this term, with the latter producing inconsistent performance.

The North Londoners technical director Edu’s close relationship with the player’s agent Kia Joorabchian is said to have played a part in agreeing a deal.

Other reports in France suggested PSG had been willing to sell the 27-year-old this month but Arsenal would need to pay around £6m.

And with finances tight at the Emirates due to the Corona virus pandemic, it seems that Arsenal have opted for the cheaper option of waiting until the summer.

Mikel Arteta's side already have another French player arriving at the end of the season having previously agreed a deal with St-Etienne for the transfer of William Saliba.

One defensive player who could be on his way out of the club this month is Shkodran Mustafi.

The Valencia man has come in for plenty of criticism, alongside David Luiz and Sokratis, for errors this season and recently opened up about the impact of abuse he receives on social media from fans.

Former Arsenal player Martin Keown backed Arsenal’s decision to share Mustafi’s honest feelings and hopes it will see him back fighting.

Arsenal Cleared to Complete £22m Transfer as Mikel Arteta Makes Huge Claim

Arsenal have been handed a huge transfer boost as the manager of Emmanuel Dennis has more or less cleared him to move this summer.

The talented 22-year-old forward is expected to cost around £22million and has also been linked with Newcastle and Wolves in recent times after impressing with current club Club Brugge.

Dennis could be a fine signing to improve Arsenal’s attack, especially as they risk losing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer.

Gooners will be pleased to see that Dennis’ manager Philippe Clement says “it’s time” for the player to move on.

“It is very likely that Dennis will leave. He can also count on a lot of interest. It is the time for him to take a new step,” Clement said.

Arsenal will hope they can now just see off competition for Dennis’ signature this summer.

Mikel Arteta has got off to a decent start to life at the Emirates Stadium but there’s no doubt he could do with a signing like this to boost his side’s hopes next season.

ARSENAL: ARTETA Set to Announce the Signing of 25-year-Old Seria A Star in Coming Weeks

Agreeing to Calciomercato24.com (h/t Football.london), Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot is a mid year move focus for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

Rabiot had quite recently shown up at Juventus the previous summer on a free exchange from PSG. Nonetheless, the 25-year-old has been once in a while utilized by new manager Maurizio Sarri this season, making only 11 beginnings from his 17 group appearances up until now.

He has included in 24 games over all rivalries for the Serie A mammoths and is yet to enroll an objective or a help. In the interim, Arsenal are hoping to reinforce their crew after their troubling presentation in the class this season.

The Gunners are at present ninth in the association – their most exceedingly terrible ever execution as of late. They have battled both in midfield and guard, and had earlier targeted Rabiot in January. In any case, no arrangement appeared, with the French midfielder waiting in Turin.

Munititions stockpile will have an accomplished midfielder in Rabiot.

Nonetheless, with the side's exhibitions on the pitch unmistakably not improving, Arteta and Arsenal have now reignited their enthusiasm for their previous objective. Rabiot, then, is an adaptable midfielder fit for playing both in the center and in a more profound job, having done as such on various events for previous side PSG.

The Gunners, then again, could truly do with a player of Rabiot's shape as Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira have battled with poor structure and irregularity.

Also, they simply have youthful Matteo Guendouzi and Joe Willock in the center, with on-credit midfielder Dani Ceballos expected to come back to his parent club toward the finish of June.

Regardless of simply being 25, Rabiot is an accomplished campaigner with 227 matches, 24 objectives and 14 helps added to his repertoire for previous side PSG, making him a charming objective for the Gunners.

Given Rabiot's understanding, playing for top sides, for example, PSG and Juventus, Arsenal's choice to make a move for the Frenchman resembles a positive development.

Given Arsenal's poor standings in the alliance this term, unmistakably they need some new faces. Having included for a portion of the top sides in Europe, his experience could be helpful for a battling side, for example, Arsenal. In addition, he is as yet youthful and has a lot of football left in him. Subsequently, Arsenal must attempt to land him at the Emirates as quickly as time permits.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta wants three signings in summer window

Axel Disasi fight

Arsenal have unwanted company in their pursuit of Reims centre-back Axel Disasi.

Mikel Arteta is looking to bolster his defensive ranks and find a long-term partner for incoming recruit William Saliba.

Reims value their 22-year-old, who has made 52 appearances for the club, at £13million excluding bonuses.

But the Gunners face competition from north London rivals Tottenham and Southampton for Disasi, whose contract expires in June 2021.

Website GFFN believe Reims will get their asking-price for Disasi 'in the coming weeks.'

Adrien Rabiot to Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta personally contacted the mother and agent of Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

That's according to Italian website Calciomercato24, who claim Arsenal have joined Everton, Manchester United and Newcastle in the battle for the Frenchman's signature.

It's said Arteta even spoke to Rabiot himself back in the January transfer window before Juventus decided to keep him within their ranks.

It's unwelcome news for Steve Bruce's Newcastle, who have engaged in negotiations with Juventus over a £26million deal.

Unai Nunez interest

Arsenal are set to intensify their efforts to sign Unai Nunez.

The Athletic Bilbao centre-back, 23, received his first international cap for Spain against the Faroe Islands in August 2019 and is considered a rising star in La Liga.

However, the Gunners will have to pay full whack to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.

And that, according to Spanish newspaper El Correo, is because Athletic Bilbao will NOT negotiate his price-tag and expect Arsenal to trigger his £25.7million release clause.

Dani Ceballos says he plans to return to Real Madrid and fight for his place in Zinedine Zidane's starting XI.

Ceballos joined the Gunners last summer on a season-long loan with the aim of sealing a place in the Spain squad for Euro 2020.

However, after a bright start to life at the Emirates, Ceballos' form dropped off and he picked up a hamstring injury that would keep him out for several weeks.

"I am happy and I have a contract with Real Madrid," Ceballos told Spanish publication Deportes Cuatro. "I am 23 years old, I’m not over the hill yet. "Now I feel much more a player and I am prepared for any challenge that comes my way."

Willian future

Willian is in an awkward situation regarding his expiring contract at Chelsea, according to his agent Kia Joorabchian.

Willian’s current deal expires on June 30 and it is looking increasingly likely that the experienced winger will remain in the Premier League with Arsenal and Tottenham linked.

“There will have to be a lot of conversations over possible extensions," Joorabchian told talkSPORT. “It’s not just Willian, I think all free agent players are in an awkward situation because do you sign a new contract, do you extend for a month, do you extend for a longer period?

“I think that will be something that will just play itself out closer to the time.”

Jadon Sancho to Liverpool

Liverpool could pull off the signing of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.

That's the opinion of Glen Johnson, who believes the England international would find it 'very difficult' to reject Jurgen Klopp's side if they made an official approach.

"Sancho has been linked with almost all of Europe’s top clubs, but from my perspective he’ll surely find it very hard to turn down Liverpool if they come knocking," Johnson told BETDAQ.

"I know exactly what it means to put on the shirt and for any young English footballer playing at Anfield it is what you dream of.

"They’ve got one of the best managers in the world in Jurgen Klopp, they’re European champions and are going to win the Premier League, so it would be very tough to not be seriously tempted if they were after Sancho’s signature."

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Flamengo midfielder Gerson.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Flamengo midfielder Gerson.
According to the player’s father, Marcos Santos, the Gunners are desperate to sign the midfielder this summer. Santos told Canal do Nicola that Arsenal’s Director of Football, Raul Sanllehi, is the driving force behind the club’s bid to sign the 22-year-old.“Nobody knew about (the interest of) Arsenal, but now that I’m telling you, everyone will know,” said Santos. He went on to confirm Sanllehi’s involvement, adding that he tried to sign Gerson during his time at Barcelona. Gerson played a key role as Flamengo won the league title in Brazil and the Copa Libertadores during 2019.He has previously been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, but Arsenal appear to have stolen a march on their North London rivals.Arsenal desperately need to strengthen their midfield and Gerson appears to fit the bill in that respect.Gerson’s ball-winning ability looks ideally suited to the Premier League and he would undoubtedly be a positive acquistion for the Gunners.

Aubameyang, Lacazette on Napoli shortlist With Either of Them to Pair Immobile

According to Napoli expert Ciro Venerato, who was speaking to CalcioNapoli24 via Sport Witness, Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso is extremely keen to sign Lazio centre-forward, Ciro Immobile, who has ripped up Serie A this season with 27 goals in 26 games.

However, Immobile is valued at €100 million and Gattuso may be forced to look elsewhere.

It is said that both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are potential targets, with either of the Arsenal pair the ideal Immobile alternative.

Venerato reports that one of the two are likely to leave the Emirates this summer.

With both under precarious contract situations, Aubameyang’s expiring next year and Lacazette’s the year after that, Napoli could come sniffing on a cut-price deal.

ARSENAL TRANSFER UPDATES

Leno on Ozil: "Of course, in the last time he didn’t make too many assists but when you see how many chances he creates, he is maybe playing the one pass before the assist. He brings his teammates into good positions & many people, they don’t see this"

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Kieran Tierney on leaving Celtic: “There were sleepless nights. It was a hard decision. I knew how big Arsenal were, a massive club in a massive league. Your coming down here and playing, in training, against Pepe, Ozil, Lacazette & Aubameyang, the world's best players.”

 ------------------------------------------------------------------

According to The Sun Liverpool could be set for a surprise swoop for teenage Arsenal star Bukayo Saka with the youngster's contract talks on hold.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Tierney on Arteta: "I’ve seen all his video meetings, I’ve been in the meetings together as a team, before the games, after the games & just his analysis is amazing. In Dubai for the winter break I was doing some one-on-one work with him & thats when I realised this is brilliant"

Man Utd have been handed a transfer boost as Paul Merson reckons Jack Grealish, also linked with Chelsea and Arsenal, will “100 per cent” quit Aston Villa if they are relegated this season.

Merson told Sky Sports: “I would say 100 per cent. If Villa go down then I think they will get rid of Jack and he will be sold,

“He's a Villa man through and through, he loves Aston Villa, but he will have to move on, there is no doubt about that if he wants to better himself.

“It's horrible saying that, better yourself, because it's a great club, but he will have to play in the Premier League.

“In this day and age, you play in the Premier League if you want to play for England. It's very rare that you're not playing in the Premier League or a top European league and you're playing for England. For me, he would have to be sold.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Real Madrid want a transfer for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sorted by June 15 or will look elsewhere for a new striker, according to reports.

The Arsenal captain, 30, is out of contract next year and is not expected to sign a new deal at the Emirates.

It means the Gunners need to make a decision on his future in the comings months – either sell him this summer or let him leave for free in 2021.

A £30million offer is expected to be enough to convince the North London club to let Auba go.

They are determined to avoid losing valuable assets for nothing as they did when Aaron Ramsey joined Juventus last summer when his contract expired.

And so, according to the Mirror, Real Madrid are hoping to land the Gabon international when the transfer market reopens.

Arsenal left their soul in Highbury when they quit the stadium in 2006, claims Arsene Wenger.

He told beIN Sports: “You are always in a position when you are a football club to move forward or stay in the past.

“To compete with other clubs, we had to build a new stadium. The rules had changed.

“We wanted to create the same as Highbury but we left our soul at Highbury.

“We could never recreate exactly. We didn't find exactly the same atmosphere.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------

With Arsenal having reportedly been offered Mauro Icardi in return for skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a shock swap deal with Inter Milan, SunSport examine how the two strikers compare.

Who do you think would do a better job under Mikel Arteta next season?

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Kieran Tierney has hailed Mikel Arteta's “amazing” understanding of the game.

He told Sky Sports: “I've seen all his video meetings, I've been in the meetings together as a team, before the games, after the games and just his analysis is amazing.

“In Dubai for the winter break I was doing some one-on-one work with him and that's when I realised this is brilliant, I'm learning a lot in a rehab session.

“He knows what's going to happen in a game and how it's going to happen and what you should do, where you're going to get pressed from and where your options should be.

“You should know where the left-mid is going to be and the centre-mid so you can just play in sync, everybody is using one brain and I think that's perfect.

“Hopefully when I'm back fit I can get the chance to play and just build up fitness and confidence again.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Football League clubs face decimation unless they get a financial lifeline from top-flight outfits within the next seven weeks, according to an anxious Championship club exec.

The insider told SunSport: “Unless there is a redistribution of wealth from the top of the game, many clubs won’t be able to survive for much longer.

“The Championship teams need help from the Premier League. If we don’t get it soon a lot of clubs will be staring into the abyss of administration.

“We have no money coming in from gate receipts, sponsorship or merchandising and we’re being told we’ll be playing behind closed doors for the rest of the year…

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Arsenal legend Cesc Fabregas who now plays for AS Monaco reckons the Ligue 1 season was axed “too soon” amid the coronavirus crisis.

And seventh-placed Lyon – who were pushing for a spot in Europe – have threatened legal action after the 2019-20 campaign was scrapped.

He told beIN SPORTS: “It was a big decision that was made and I can understand why they took it

“But maybe it was taken a little too soon, considering a lot of the big league are still all trying to resume.

“Although I completely understand the meaning behind it and it's better to be safe in all accounts, because the most important is the families and the health security of everyone and support this 100 per cent.

“But maybe we could've considered individual training, where you have basically no risk. You're not touching anyone, you're not close to anyone.

“See if everyone was getting closer to football behind played all over the world.

“Obviously, it's very difficult and I understand someone needs to make decisions. We just have to do what they're telling us.

“Difficult moment in our professional lives and personal lives, but we just have to hold on and everything will be fine in the future for sure.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Arsene Wenger has admitted that he still worries about Arsenal – and hopes Mikel Arteta can rediscover the club’s culture.

He told talkSPORT: “I worry about the club still a lot and I watch all of the games.

“I believe there is a culture in the way to play football at Arsenal that I want to be respected, and I hope Mikel can get that back.

“I’m very proud and happy to contribute a little bit to improve things.

“My heart is still with the club. I think a lot of that period. Twenty-two years at one club is unusual. I’m proud.

“At the end of the day when you look back, you don’t think about what you won or lost so much but I’m proud for having the attitude just to serve the club while I was there.

“I have more satisfaction looking back too at the Emirates that we built all that without a penny from anybody.

“And today the club can take off more and be more successful.”

Arsenal are ready to swap Aubameyang with PSG goal machine.

As Aubameyang is heading to the end of his contract and to look at the abortiveness of his contract, Asenal coaching staffs are not happy with it.

Since he is getting to his final 12 months of his contract, Arsenal might sell their most priced asset so he won't leave for free like Ramsey did which will not be profitable to the club.

Meanwhile, inter Milan are willing to swap Aubameyang with their out of favour Mauro Icardi that is currently on loan at PSG which is currently one of their goal machine. Inter Milan want straight swap for the deal without any other charges but Arsenal might want additional fee for their prolific striker due to his reliability in front of goal than Mauro Icardi.

Icardi might be Willing to make the switch unless PSG are willing to make his deal permanent else, he will need to get another club due to the rift between him and the club management that get him stripped of his captain and send him on loan to PSG.

Everybody knows that he is a good strike but have disciplinary issue which need to be cubbed.

Arsenal evening headlines as Luka Jovic discusses Gunners move and defender's Bundesliga boost

Here are your Arsenal evening headlines for Thursday, May 7.by football London

Arsenal receive Mavropanos boost following Bundesliga announcement

The Gunners have been handed some unexpected good news following the announcement that German football is said to return.

After confirmation that the top two tiers of club football have been given the go-ahead to resume in the coming weeks, two Arsenal players are set to be back in action.

Konstantinos Mavropanos and Jordi Osei-Tutu could feature for FC Nurnberg and VfL Bochum respectively in Bundesliga 2.

James Benge on Aubameyang's transfer fee, Thomas Partey and Saka's future
The two defenders will have further opportunities to impress at their temporary clubs before returning to the Emirates in the Summer.

The Reds sit top of the Premier League table with a 25-point lead over Manchester City, having dropped just five points all season and all set to lift the title at the end of the season.

The Frenchman admitted he would have had no issue if Liverpool had matched that feat.

"I think they are playing football the right way with passion, commitment, organisation, desire, working hard - their football is contagious,” he told Sky Sports. “That's why I thought they were going to do it [go unbeaten] and that's why I wanted them to do it.

It's so funny because people ask me if I'd be upset if they do it, but why would I be upset?"

Gunners striker target hints at Premier League move

Luka Jovic, reportedly on the rader of Arsenal, has been asking Serbia team-mate Aleksandar Mitrovic about life in England ahead of a proposed Premier League move.

Reports suggest the club are keen to keep the player but a loan move to a club like Arsenal could be on the cards as Jovic looks to recapture his form from his time in Germany.

The Express say the hitman has been speaking to compatriot and Fulham star Mitrovic about whether a move to England would be suited to him.

Mikel Arteta's plan to guarantee Gabriel Martinelli realises his full potential at Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has tweaked many players roles since taking charge of the Gunners but how does he view Gabriel Martinelli's future in the front.
Mikel Arteta has often used Gabriel Martinelli coming in off the lench

In each of these games, however, he has decided against playing the 18-year-old as a central striker, the position he made his first two starts for the club playing, scoring three goals in the process.

Even when Alexandre Lacazette dropped out of form, the Spaniard chose to bring Eddie Nketiah into the fold rather than move Martinelli infield. Instead, he kept the youngster playing out wide which, especially when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's suspension was over, caused debate.

Despite Martinelli's exploits through the middle under Emery, Arteta has had reasons for playing him out wide.

"They are but with the squad balance we have at the moment to play on that position on the left we don't have five players because we're using one of them to play as a left-back who is not a left-back," said Arteta in March

So we're just trying to adapt to the situation we have. Today try to put in the team, players that have a goal threat that can be successful for the team and that's part of managing the players that we have."

Arsenal to sell players to fund the transfer fee for an existing flop

It was rare to see Arsenal spend any serious money in the transfer market, so the longer that trend continued meant the eventual huge signing would be under even more pressure.

You expect to see the club sign a ready made superstar when they break their transfer record, but Nicolas Pepe looked more like a highly rated project than someone ready to lead the team.

They claim that Arsenal agreed a deal for a club record £72m to actually sign him, only that money was to be paid across five installments.

They’ve been hit in recent weeks by the whole Coronavirus situation, and that means they need to find a way to raise some money to pay for that.

It’s suggested that as many as six players may have to go to raise those funds, and it really is a nightmare situation for Mikel Arteta.

Essentially he may be forced to lose some members of his squad just to keep a player who was signed before he arrived, and surely this will reduce his options to improve his team too.

It’s likely other clubs will be in similar financial positions, but this hasn’t worked out well for Arsenal at all
