Governor Sanwo-Olu: Coronavirus has shown us we need prayers

COVID-19 has shown us we need prayers — Sanwo-Olu

The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday said that the Coronavirus pandemic had shown Nigerians that there was need for prayers.

Sanwo-Olu, who said this at the opening ceremony of the 2nd Session of the 34th Synod of the Diocese of Lagos, also urged everyone to continue to pray for the state and country.

Newsmen report that the 2nd Session of the 34th Synod was held at Our Saviour’s Church, Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.

“COVID-19 has shown us in reality that we need to pray. We are not out of it yet, we need to continue to take precautions. Your prayers has really held us all together.

“The church has also participated in series of activities during the lockdown, various donations have been given to the citizens and I thank all churches for these,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu, who said the numbers were gradually going down in the state, also sympathised with everyone that had lost someone during the pandemic.

“This is a painful thing and as a government we will continue to do what we need to do to keep life alive.”

He said that the theme, “Pray, Serve and Grow’, was apt due to the ongoing pandemic ravaging the world.

“Service to the Lord is serving, loving and supporting one another.For us to build a greatest Lagos, we certainly need to hold on to God and pray.

“We certainly need to use God as an instrument of contact for all of us,” he said.

He, however, appreciated the frontline health workers who had been working tirelessly during the pandemic.

The Bishop of Lagos, Rt. Rev. Humphrey Olumakaiye, in his address, appreciated everyone for their presence.

He said: “We are here, gathered to register our unreserved appreciation and gratitude to God Almighty, for seeing us through the devastating season of global outbreak of an infectious pandemic disease.

“The kernel of our joyful celebration is anchored to the unshakeable assurance, that we have a bigger God, by whose fulfilled promises of protection upon our lives, gave us the grace to gather today,” he said.

40 Herbal Medicines Undergoing Review As Possible Coronavirus Cure – NAFDAC

The National Agency for Foods and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye has disclosed that 40 herbal drugs are currently undergoing a review as possible Coronavirus cure.

Adeyeye who disclosed that the herbal drugs are undergoing review to ensure their safety for use averred that if the herbal drugs are not properly reviewed it could kill fast.

She noted that there is still no cure for Coronavirus and also warned against claims affirming such.

The NAFDAC DG said;

“In March 2019, we inaugurated the Nigerian Herbal Medicine Product Committee (HMPC) to bridge the gap often created between traditional medicine practitioners and researchers.
“COVID-19 pandemic created an opportunity and we have been encouraging traditional medicine practitioners to submit their herbal formulations for evaluation.

“We also developed guidelines on how to register herbal medicine online and the labelling of the product.
“Prof. Maurice Iwu’s application for approval of herbal medicine for the management of COVID-19 is also part of the 40 applications we are reviewing for safety.
“We use an animal for safety test to ensure the formulation will not kill anybody.
“Until a clinical trial is done in a scientific manner, no herbal medicine manufacturer can claim cure or effectiveness to treat COVID-19 associated symptoms.
“I believe that Nigeria’s herbal medicines may be able to cure COVID-19.
“They have a lot of potentials and it is time to translate the research of herbs into products of proven safety and efficacy, for the benefit of our people.”

Coronavirus! Russia Delivers Another Good News to the Whole World Concerning First Vaccine

The world seems to be in its final days with the coronavirus pandemic that has brought misery and despair to the whole world.

Russia early this week elicited mixed reactions and a sigh of relief after President Vladimir Putin announced to the whole world that his country had finally reached a breakthrough in the COVID-19 vaccine and the country had registered the first world COVID-19 vaccine.

This was good news to the world, Russia has yet again today delivered another good news to the whole world concerning the first COVID-19 vaccine.

According to a publication by Aljazeera and Anadolu website, the Government of Russia through the Health Ministry has now announced that it will begin mass COVID-19 vaccine production within two weeks time period.

This is another good news to the whole world from Russia proving that the world might be free from the COVID-19 pandemic much sooner than it had been

registered is however said to be going to be administered to more vulnerable people to COVID-19 mostly elders, children and Medical health workers who are exposed to the virus on a daily basis.

The vaccine is also said to be going to be administered through two infections.

This comes after works Health Organization had yesterday thrown cold water on the vaccine after it revealed that it had not received enough information from Russia concerning their first COVID-19 vaccine that has been registered.
