NYSC fixes 2019 batch “B” stream II passing-out date

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Wednesday said the 2019 batch “B” stream II passing-out event will hold across the country on 16th July 2020.

Also, it said due to the threat posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be low-key.

The scheme, in a statement issued and signed by its Director press and public relations, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, in Abuja, said qualified Corps Members would receive their Certificates of National Service (CNS) at the Local Government level.

It further disclosed that distribution of the Certificate of National Service would be staggered for a period of ten days in the first instance, in keeping with the safety measures established by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

The statement quoted its NYSC Director-General(DG) Brig Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim to have commended the outgoing Corps Members for their service to the nation, and;”…. for standing out to be counted in this time of national emergency, through the various interventions aimed at combating the spread of COVID-19.”

The NYSC DG charged the Corps Members to remain steadfast in rendering service to the nation and humanity, even after they have concluded their national assignment as that is the hallmark of the Corps.

“Finally, all Corps Members and NYSC stakeholders are advised to stay vigilant, in order to guard against the contraction of COVID-19.

Therefore, all must ensure strict observance of the safety protocols, predicated on consistent use of face masks, proper washing of hands with soap for at least twenty seconds, use of alcohol-based sanitizer, and observing social/physical distancing,” the statement added.

Notice to National Youth Service Corps members currently away from their state of deployment

With the permission of the National Youth Service Corps, thousands of Corps members across the Nation traveled back to their various homes in a bid to stay safe from the pandemic which the country is currently staging a tough fight against.

As the Batch B1 Passing Out Parade draws near, it is important to know that Corps members who are currently away from their state of deployment are not expect to rush down for the Passing Out Parade.

Those who stayed behind in their various states of deployment will be attended to within specified dates and the certificates of those currently away will be kept safely by the National Youth Service Corps till the coast is clear enough for them to return.

NYSC: Why Batch B stream 1 is a very lucky Batch as their POP draws near

According to the released news about the Passing Out Parade (POP) of 2019 Batch B stream 1 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to be 28th of May, 2020. The corps members have been so joyous and happy as they are leaving the NYSC phase of life and getting to another phase.

The 2019 Batch B stream 1 is a very lucky batch in the following ways:

1. The corps members have been at home. Nobody goes to work. Though this is not peculiar to Batch B, but there won't be stress of queueing up in the sun to get their certificate or maybe converging at the state capital like 2019 batch A. Everyone goes to the local governments to collect their certificate without much stress.

2. They are leaving mostly when a lot of employers recruit. Lemme say more to this, a lot of companies recruit in the month of January, June and July. This is because, companies which offer yearly graduate trainee programme run it mostly at six month or one year. For six months (which most do), they run it mostly twice a year (January and July), some may even start June and prepare them for the programme starting in July. The one year trainee programme is mostly January, though some also do it in June and July. This means that they are entering streams of job

3. It will be advantageous for someone who can survive competitions. This is because, the epidemy has stopped the already passed out corps members to look for work, meaning some spaces they are to fill are still empty which give batch B equal opportunity to compete as they will soon have their discharge certificate handy

4. Immediately after the epidemy, a lot of companies and industries will want to recruit and this gives them opportunity
