Factors that may cause the stoppage of monthly allowances - NYSC DG

Corps members all over the nation often complain bitterly about how their monthly allowance payments was stopped abruptly without proper knowledge of what might have caused it.

The rules and regulations guiding the activities of every Corps member in the nation is clearly stated in the code of conduct manual of the NYSC.

Asides the Code of Conduct manual, here are 4 criterias that may lead to the immediate suspension of a Corps member's allowance:

1. Absconding From Service

Some Corps members after completion of the online registration and three weeks orientation exercise often abscond from nysc with the hope that they will continue receiving monthly payments. Once a Corps Member is discovered to have absconded, their payment is stopped immediately and they are to submit all properties of the NYSC in their possession.

2. Failure to partake in monthly biometric exercise:

Monthly biometric capturing is of utmost importance because it serves as proof to show that you were present at your state of deployment for that month. Any month's biometric capturing a Corps Member misses is an automatic forfeiture of that month's allowance. Unless in rare occasions like in the case of a pandemic.

3. Failure to always report to PPA

The failure of any Corps member to report of their Place of Primary Assignment may warranty the issuance of a query by the head of the PPA. Three consecutive strikes may lead to the forfeiture of that month's allowance and a possible service year extension.

4. Boycotting of CDS

Community Development Service is paramount in any environment a Corps Member is posted to as it helps to build both the Corps members and the environment.

Consecutive boycotting of CDS meetings may lead to the issuance of query letters which in turn may cause the immediate suspension of monthly payments.

NYSC: Why Batch B stream 1 is a very lucky Batch as their POP draws near

According to the released news about the Passing Out Parade (POP) of 2019 Batch B stream 1 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to be 28th of May, 2020. The corps members have been so joyous and happy as they are leaving the NYSC phase of life and getting to another phase.

The 2019 Batch B stream 1 is a very lucky batch in the following ways:

1. The corps members have been at home. Nobody goes to work. Though this is not peculiar to Batch B, but there won't be stress of queueing up in the sun to get their certificate or maybe converging at the state capital like 2019 batch A. Everyone goes to the local governments to collect their certificate without much stress.

2. They are leaving mostly when a lot of employers recruit. Lemme say more to this, a lot of companies recruit in the month of January, June and July. This is because, companies which offer yearly graduate trainee programme run it mostly at six month or one year. For six months (which most do), they run it mostly twice a year (January and July), some may even start June and prepare them for the programme starting in July. The one year trainee programme is mostly January, though some also do it in June and July. This means that they are entering streams of job

3. It will be advantageous for someone who can survive competitions. This is because, the epidemy has stopped the already passed out corps members to look for work, meaning some spaces they are to fill are still empty which give batch B equal opportunity to compete as they will soon have their discharge certificate handy

4. Immediately after the epidemy, a lot of companies and industries will want to recruit and this gives them opportunity
